Thank you for using your bot! Edit

Thank you for helping get rid of the last few instances of the SPW template with your bot. Have a nice day! Lady Aleena (talk) 07:42, January 4, 2018 (UTC)

What can your bot do? Edit

Hello. I was wondering just what your bot can do.

  • Can it find the date of the last edit of a page and calculate the time elapsed between the last edit and the day it is run, for example if a page hasn't been edited in 30 days?
  • Can it find pages just by the parts of the page title, for example a /sandbox page?
  • Is there a page somewhere for your bot?

Before I ask you to put your bot in motion, I need to know what it can look for and what it can do when it finds things. So, can it do the above and more? LA Please keep conversations together, reply here. @ 10:19, January 15, 2018 (UTC)

I use AutoWikiBrowser and Pywikibot. But sorry, I don’t know about bots well.

Please ask more details by Special:Contact/general. (I will ask about it, too!) --Plover-Y (talk) 2018-01-18 12:39 (UTC)

Here is the job I would like your bot to do on February 1.

  1. Find all /sandbox pages and clear all of those that have not been edited in the last 30 days except user space /sandbox pages.
  2. Find all user space /sandbox pages and clear all of those that have not been edited in the last 180 days.
  3. Find all /sandbox/doc pages and clear them as well (30 days for all spaces except user space, 180 days for user space).

When clearing a sandbox, please leave the following on the /sandbox pages.

<noinclude>{{Sandbox}}</noinclude>

For /sandbox/doc pages that are not in user space, for user space /sandbox/doc pages use the above.

<noinclude>
{{Sandbox}}
{{Documentation subpage}}
</noinclude>

The tricky part is to ignore all template pages that begin with the word Documentation. Documentation subpages are except from the above.

The edit summary should read "Clearing inactive sandbox page." without the quotes.

Do you think your bot can do that? LA Please keep conversations together, reply here. @ 17:32, January 18, 2018 (UTC)

Hey there, Plover-Y asked for a bit of assistance from us. I think primary step for this would be obtaining the list of pages that need to be edited - and I think DPL may be best-suited for this.
It's possible these will actually be quite short lists, in which case there isn't much need to use a bot (especially given the variety of conditions/outputs).
I might be able to assist with working out the DPL queries if needed - but the info and links on Help:DPL should give you a headstart? Kirkburn (talk) @fandom 16:41, January 25, 2018 (UTC)
I've been trying to get DPL queries up and running, however, it is proving difficult to write the query to include only those that have not been edited in the given time frame. I am trying to think of other options. LA Please keep conversations together, reply here. @ 12:02, January 26, 2018 (UTC)

No SITELANG magic word Edit

Hello there!

In two templates you used {{SITELANG}}. There does not appear to be a magic word with that name. There is the magic word {{CONTENTLANG}} that produces en. Is that what you are looking for? LA Please keep conversations together, reply here. @ 12:19, February 7, 2018 (UTC)

Ahhh Thank you for correcting! Yes, I should use {{CONTENTLANG}} ! --Plover-Y (talk) 2018-02-15 13:59 (UTC)
