"Unregistered" editing OK![]

Maybe you can get into the habit of identifying yourself somehow when you do edits logged out. — Robin Patterson (Talk) 22:51, February 27, 2010 (UTC)

I do so when I'm commenting on discussions (as you see here and as I did on User talk:‎‎), but there's generally no way to do so when making mainspace edits without putting something in the edit summary, which often means I would have to shorten my edit summary for some edits. I'll start identifying myself here when I have room in the edit summary, but you can also ask about any edit you suspect might be me, right here on my talk page. =) --Dinoguy1000 (talkcontribslogsblock log) as 04:42, February 28, 2010 (UTC)`

User sub pages[]

I guess I should have checked your page's code first. It looked like it was hard-coded, so I incorrectly assumed it was hard coded. That was a fail at being clever... --Yoshord 00:43, August 20, 2010 (UTC)

Help with some templates[]

Sir, I humbly ask for your help with some of the local templates here. I've recently transferred the code for character infoboxes over to the Vanquish Wiki for use. I managed to piece together a good one (in my opinion at least) at a sandbox I had set up there, but I'm having problems with the font. I can't seem to render the font color to white.

Since you are one of the top users I thought I'd ask you for help. I've already sent a message to Kirkburn on his CW Talkpage, but he isn't replying. Here's the link to said sandbox. As I await your reply sir ^_^ --WarClownWanna Talk? 12:38, September 12, 2010 (UTC)

If you had sysop rights, you could add .infobox th, .infobox td {color:white;} to the wiki's MediaWiki:Common.css. Since you don't have that, the only other way is to put the style in every element's style element, but that gets ugly and I don't recommend it. --Yoshord 15:07, September 12, 2010 (UTC)
You're overcomplicating it, Yoshord; all you have to do is add "color: white;" to the table's style attribute; it automatically applies to all table cells. I would still recommend getting an admin (preferably one with some CSS knowledge) to add the rule to your wiki's Common.css, though, War Clown. (and one last note, there's no need to be so formal with me, I'm Just Another User... ;) ) ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 17:21, September 12, 2010 (UTC)
Well I checked the template on the Vanquish Wiki, and I see that you've already taken the liberty of doing it for me. Thanks :D About being formal, I just wanted to make a good first impression, since I only know tidbits about the templates...That and I was practicing my English =P Anyways, Thank you so much! --WarClownWanna Talk? 10:32, September 13, 2010 (UTC)

Hi, im with a problem . . . i created a wikia, and when i try to make a template, i cant.

The only template i my wikia allows me to do it the "infobox" and everytime i do it, it is in the left side of the page and not in the right . . .

Can you help me? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tuga1143 (talkcontribs) 03:18, September 15, 2010. Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Hello Tuga1143, first, please sign your posts by typing four tildes (~~~~) after your message.
It sounds like you need some styles in your wiki's MediaWiki:Common.css page, but I can't be sure without actually seeing the infobox - could you provide a link to your wiki, and to the infobox template you're having problems with? ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 02:30, September 16, 2010 (UTC)
Oh, im sorry. My infobox appears allways on the left side. I cant find the problem . . .
Here is my wikia: http://pt.glorious.wikia.com
Thank you. (Tuga1143 13:38, September 19, 2010 (UTC))
I assume the infobox you're talking about is http://pt.glorious.wikia.com/wiki/Predefini%C3%A7%C3%A3o:VeryLongInfobox, right? If so, as I said, you did not copy the necessary styles into your MediaWiki:Common.css file. ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 16:27, September 22, 2010 (UTC)
No, im talking about the infobox, there are a lot of boxes and i dont know how to add then int my wikia, so im asking if you could tell me what i have to do to add then into my wikia. Tuga1143 19:49, September 22, 2010 (UTC)
You're wanting to know how to add the template to pages? To start with, it appears that Template:VeryLongInfobox is the generic {{Infobox}} template, meaning you'll have to use it to create the actual templates you want - instructions can be found on Template:Infobox/doc, which you should copy to http://pt.glorious.wikia.com/wiki/Predefini%C3%A7%C3%A3o:VeryLongInfobox/doc for convenience (you should also copy {{Documentation}} and its documentation - it looks like most of the templates you *should* have on your wiki aren't there, but there's not nearly enough in your deletion log to account for it...). ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 22:58, September 22, 2010 (UTC)

Creating an infobox[]

I'm trying to create the template for infoboxes on my Wikia (http://www.hurricanechronicles.wikia.com/), but I'm completely lost as to how to design it and where to even start; I've creating the Template:Infobox/Character page and I'm stuck at the editing screen as to what to put next. I want to create something like the character infobox on Narutopedia (something like this http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/Shikamaru), but I have no idea how to create the details such as merged lines and categories. I'm stuck at the beginning of the editing screen. I could use some help, step-by-step, maybe? —Preceding unsigned comment added by FireStarr (talkcontribs) 15:38, May 6, 2011.
Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

The Naruto Wikia seems to use a custom-spun mix of anime hub and home-brewed templates for its character infobox; I really don't know how their system works at all. My suggestion would be to start by copying Template:Infobox character from here, and then gradually modifying it to do what you want it to. This will also let you learn more generally how templates work, and should teach you some CSS and HTML while you're at it. ;) One last thing, remember that the infobox on the Naruto wiki is only one way to do it; you may (and probably will, considering the complexity of the infobox on the Naruto wiki) find in experimenting on your wiki that some other method works better for you (and if you still need help with any particulars, feel free to ask ;) ). ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 18:01, May 13, 2011 (UTC)

Conversation template[]

Hello sir, thanks for fixing the wiki link template at the Prototype wiki. I have another favor to ask, we have a lot of conversations from the game and I use these dialogue templates (somewhere upto 8). But these work only for convo between two people. Is there a way to make a dialogue template for conversation between three ppl? Because I used the : punctuation and it kind of changed the page format. Thank you.Vatsa 15:08, June 4, 2011 (UTC)

I don't think there's any really straightforward way to do so - in a conversation between two people, it's generally going to be a back-and-forth: A - B - A - ... But with a third person, it suddenly gets a lot more complex: A - B - C - A - ..., A - B - A - C - ..., A - B - C - B - ..., etc. A template could be made for that, but you'd have to specify the speaker before every line. Would that be fine (and if so, I need to know how many lines of dialog the template needs to support)? ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 16:26, June 4, 2011 (UTC)
Well it's usually A - B - C - B - ..... Speaker A, has a single line in most conversations, a few are 3 lines(A - B - C - B) and the highest I could find was 5 lines, (A - B - C - B - C - B) and the situations to the end of dialogues along with the source. Hope this isn't a lot of trouble. Vatsa 10:10, June 5, 2011 (UTC)
All right, how does w:c:prototype:Template:3-way dialog do you? I designed it to support anywhere from 3 to 7 lines of dialog, and it uses a "src" parameter for the discussion's source instead of another unnamed parameter. If you can point me to some sample conversations, I can add usage examples as well.
I could also write a more generic dialog template that would allow any number of speakers (within reason), speaking in any order, but you would have to specify the speaker for every line. ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 17:35, June 5, 2011 (UTC)
Wow, you seriously work fast. I was able to find these two articles, w:c:prototype:Arthur Coleman and w:c:prototype:Walter Avery. The first speaker has a single line, the rest is between other two speakers. There is also an eight line convo, but same thing first speaker say's a single line, the rest of the convo is between two people. I can think of a few article the "generic dialog template" could be used. Hope this wasn't too much trouble and thank you for the help again :) . Vatsa 18:02, June 5, 2011 (UTC)
Nah, it wasn't too much trouble. ;) So is that a "yes" for wanting that more generic template? ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 18:10, June 5, 2011 (UTC)
Examples added. That template *really* doesn't like whitespace around the pipes, which is pretty damn weird - it shouldn't care one way or another (though maybe it has something to do with the list format used; I've never done much with definition lists in templates before). ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 18:23, June 5, 2011 (UTC)
Definite yes for the generic templates. Thank you. :) Vatsa 18:27, June 5, 2011 (UTC)

New templates[]

Hi! I'm an editor on One Piece Wiki, I'd like to signalize you these template: Template:Userstats and Template:Parent Tab Template and for the license templates we have merge the creative commons licenses and the GNU licenses in two templates: Template:CC-BY-SA and Template:GNU. If you think some of those are worth to be added here feel free to copy the code. Thanx! Leviathan_89 15:28, June 5, 2011 (UTC)

The licensing templates would probably need to be reviewed (in particular your version of {{CC-BY-SA}}, which may or may not partially overlap with our version of {{CC}}; Fandyllic would, I think, be the one to ask about that), but you should feel free to copy Template:Userstats and Template:Parent Tab Template here if you feel they'd be useful. ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 17:56, June 5, 2011 (UTC)

Hello once again sir! It's me again, War Clown. This time, I represent the inFamous Wiki, and I need your professional help with a template. This one is featured in the wiki's main page, but there has been a problem. 3 of the videos are out of proportion with the others, namely (though not definite) the last 3 videos (Mission Creator, Beast is Coming, and Gamescom Trailer). An associate I was working with also doesn't know how to fix it, so I thought I'd turn to you. I don't really know the problem, the size code is the same as the others, yet they are way out of proportion. Can you please help out? Hello Dinoguy. I'm Kellyn, from Bakugan Wikia and i was wondering if the template was done, or where it is up to. :D Thnx The Demon Sweetie. 12:45, July 30, 2011 (UTC)

Hey Kellyn, sorry about the wait. I haven't been able to start on it yet, because I've had a lot of other stuff happening for the past few weeks (mostly in real life, but I've had a sizable buildup of stuff to go through here on Wikia as well, as a result). Depending on what happens IRL, I may not be able to get to it for another next week or so either. If you guys would rather find someone else to make the template (or try to do so yourselves) rather than waiting for my schedule to open up, that's fine by me, as long as you don't mind me having a look through the end result! ;) ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 18:49, July 30, 2011 (UTC)

All right, I just wanted to be sure everyone on the Bakugan wiki wasn't getting pissed at me or anything. =D Basically, the template will end up working a lot like Yu-Gi-Oh! Wikia's CardTable2 template, which can be seen in action, for example, here or here (the Bakugan template shouldn't be nearly as complicated, though, based on what I've seen of the Bakugan card game). ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 23:00, August 1, 2011 (UTC)

Hello Wildecoyote, I assume you are talking about {{User edits}}, right? Just to be clear, I've only made a minor change to that template, so it's hardly "mine". ;)
To use it on a page, you just insert the code {{User edits}} on the page you want it to appear on. If the page's name isn't the name of the user that you're wanting to show the number of edits for, you have to add some to the code - for instance, to show how many edits you have, I would write {{User edits|Wildecoyote}} .
To use this template on other wikis, you have to copy it, {{Userbox}}, and {{Userbox/Section}} to the wiki in question, and it wouldn't hurt to grab their documentation (Template:User edits/doc, Template:Userbox/doc, and Template:Userbox/Section) at the same time.
If you have any more questions or need more help, please don't hesitate to ask! =) ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 05:57, August 20, 2011 (UTC)

It would probably be better for now to develop what you can that doesn't require admin privileges, and then I will be able to better see what changes to MediaWiki pages are necessary to finish your project (and in the process, you may discover ways to do this that don't require editing MediaWiki pages ;) ). Portalportrait Template Help[]

I have been searching for a template like this that contains an image, and two text boxes on each end (top & bottom). I would like to use this for the wiki I represent, the Survivor Fanon wiki. We create fan fiction seasons of the CBS show, Survivor. I would like to use this to represent each season with the season's logo as the image, the top representing the season title, and the bottom representing the author. I have toyed with the coding and can't seem to get it to work, because the image never fits the way I would like it to. I was wondering if you could be of assistance. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope you get back to me soon.

To see what I mean, click here to go to my user page on my wiki, where I have left an example for you on the bottom.

Donosaurus rex (talk) 19:55, August 15, 2012 (UTC)

Take a look at this part please:

- as I know - there must be 2 values and 2 strings, and I can see only 3 elements: style|, code and <code>

What here compares with what? "{{{style" and "}}}" or what? and if not - what means "style|" if it's parameter?

And where's 4th element?

P.S. sorry for my bad english. Zeliboba727 (talk) 20:50, August 30, 2012 (UTC)

The fourth element isn't actually required. You can expand #ifeq into pseudocode, if that helps you understand what's going on here; here's the "full" version:
If a = b Then
    Return "They match! =)"
    Return "No match. =("
and here's the version without the fourth parameter:
If a = b Then
    Return "They match! =)"
You can do much the same thing to understand why the third parameter of #if can also be left off. Hope this helps! =) ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 20:55, August 30, 2012 (UTC)
Thanks a lot! but one else question: what means {{{style|}}} why not {{{style}}}? Zeliboba727 (talk) 09:39, September 1, 2012 (UTC)
<nowiki></nowiki> is just a tag pair that tells the wiki that whatever is in the pair is plaintext and shouldn't be parsed, but other than that, the text isn't styled in any way. <code></code>, on the other hand, styles whatever it contains to look like formatted code, but the text is parsed by the wiki. When I discuss parameters, I tend to use either - or both - of these tags without any consistency.
If, on the other hand, you're asking about the vertical pipe (the | character), when it's used in a parameter - e.g. - that tells the wiki that if nothing is given for the "style" parameter when the template is used, nothing should be output, since without the pipe, in that case the text "{{{style}}}" would get output.
Hope this helps! =) ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 22:05, September 1, 2012 (UTC)

I am trying to use a VariablesExtension in a template to automatically calculate the amount of rows in a table but it seems that Wikia is not recognizing it. Would you have any suggestions about how to get it working? Or anyone that might have another code that would work for this type of function?

Unfortunately, I have very little experience with the VariablesExtension, so I'm probably not the best person to ask about this. In addition, I don't know if Wikia actually uses the VariablesExtension; I do know it's not enabled by default. The best I can offer you is a template with similar functionality that uses only ParserFunctions and StringFunctions, though I doubt it will work for your situation, since the table will probably be too large. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 17:01, May 27, 2013 (UTC)

Hi, just nudging this to remind you. Dodger67 (talk) 19:13, September 3, 2013 (UTC)
Sorry about not getting back to you sooner, I've been pretty swamped IRL.
Unfortunately, I can't respond to requests to copy templates to other wikis. It's nothing personal, but if I do so once, there's a good chance I'll end up with a bunch more people asking for the same thing even when they're perfectly capable of doing so themselves. Copying a template isn't too hard, though, and if you find you need any help with it, I'd be more than happy to help you then. =) ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 22:07, September 4, 2013 (UTC)
Well I figured out how to do it - even managed to grab a few from Wikipedia! But.... there's always a "but" - I'm experiencing a problem with "Cite journal". It can't correctly parse any of the DOI codes in the cites used in my wiki- and there are a huge number of them as most of the sources cited are medical journals! I've tried to track down the source of the error but I'm failing. Can you help with this? Dodger67 (talk) 14:42, September 5, 2013 (UTC)

I don't think there's an infobox on this wiki for character families; I'm not sure there'd be enough demand to justify trying to create one, especially since I've never seen one before and don't know where to look, and so wouldn't have any reference as to what information to include. Dark theme compatibility[]

On the main page, "When template names clash, either choose a new name, or - if the topics match - try merging the two into something even better!"

I use a dark theme on my wiki, which has caused a variety of difficulties, but specifically, using templates that have colors which make sense for a light wiki theme and look bad on a wiki with a dark theme. {{speedydelete}} for example is a pale red that looks "transparent" on white, but terrible on a dark theme. ...especially since a dark theme will have light text, and now you have light text on a light red background! :o

So my question is... if I wanted to edit templates to work on a dark theme, what should I do? Edit the original to work with dark themes and make a Template:Example/dark page? Edit them, when possible, to work with both light and dark themes (for example defining colors with RGBa instead of hex codes)? Edit them to include a light/dark toggle, defaulting to the more common light theme? ...well then people using dark themes would have to specify "dark" with every template.... Maybe something else altogether...

I don't know the best way to do it, but I think it would be good if anyone could just take the templates here and use them without having to reprogram all the colors. What do you think? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Iynque (talkcontribs) 07:22, January 24, 2014. Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

If RGBa values can make colors work with both a light and dark scheme, then by all means, go for it! =) Otherwise, I'd say the best solution is to create a /dark variant subtemplate and link it from the documentation. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 20:31, January 24, 2014 (UTC)

Collapsible Tables[]

Hi, I'm trying to make some collapsible table templates on The Simpsons Tapped Out wiki as most of our templates are getting very long. Examples of these templates are Decorations template and Character template. Any help would be appropriated, I just can't figure out how to make it. Asteria52 (talk) 21:05, January 26, 2014 (UTC)

Hello Asteria52, you can make the templates collapsible by replacing the "NavFrame" class with "mw-collapsible"; I've gone ahead and done this to the Decorations template to show you how, and you can view the relevant help page for more information on the collapsible functionality. Note that I would recommend using mw-collapsible instead of NavFrame or the collapsible tables script, so if you've already got either of them, once you've switched everything over, you'll be able to remove them from your site's CSS and JS files. =) ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 23:05, January 26, 2014 (UTC)
Thank you, that was very helpful. One more question, if you don't mind. Is there a way to collapse part of a table but not the whole thing? Here my example of what I'm trying to do. But when you collapse one section it takes all the others with it. I want each of the headers visible. I don't know if that's possible though, I didn't see anything like it in any of the help pages I looked at. Asteria52 (talk) 02:05, January 27, 2014 (UTC)
You'll need to put each part you want to collapse separately into its own dedicated div, with the "mw-collapsible" class assigned to said individual divs instead of to the main containing div. If you want, I can do it for you, or I can offer more help if you need it. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 02:20, January 27, 2014 (UTC)

Also, on an unrelated note, I would strongly recommend you work on your signature, if you haven't already. <table class="MsoNormalTable" border="1" cellpadding="0" width="375" style="width: 281.25pt"><tr style="height: 18.75pt"><td width="375" style="width: 281.25pt; height: 18.75pt; padding: .75pt; background: #B8CCE4">

First here is some cleaned up wikicode for that redundant HTML code [reddened is that you're setting many thing then immediately overriding them with different values]
{| class="MsoNormalTable" border="1" cellpadding="0" style="width:281.25pt; text-align:center; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"

{| class="MsoNormalTable" border="1" cellpadding="0" style="width:281.25pt; text-align:center; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"
|- style="height:18.75pt;"
|style="width: 281.25pt; height: 18.75p; background-color:#b8cce4;"|<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:center; line-height:normal; font-weight:bold; font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; color: #06c;">[[{{''Unknown''}}]]</p>
|- style="height:56.25pt;"
| style="width:281.25pt; padding:0.75pt; height:56.25pt; "| [[Gallery:{{PAGENAME}}|Gallery]] ● [[Rulings:{{PAGENAME}}|Rulings]] ● [[Errata:{{PAGENAME}}|Errata]] ● [[Tips :{{PAGENAME}}|Tips]] ● [[Appearance :{{PAGENAME}}|Appearance]] ● [[Trivia:{{PAGENAME}}|Trivia]] ● [[Lores :{{PAGENAME}}|Lores]] ● [[Card Artworks:{{PAGENAME}}|Card Artworks]] ● [[Names:{{PAGENAME}}|Names]] ● [[Sets:{{PAGENAME}}|Sets]]
Now not knowing what template ''Unknown'' is meant to do, there is nothing in that code that tells it to need to go to the main page. What it does is tell it to grab the current pages name and given you links to the same page in multiple different (custom) namespaces.
Now where is the link to the main page meant to be appearing?
Is template ''Unknown'' meant to be a italicized variable link if so what you need is [[''{{{Unknown}}}'']] instead. {{ }} is a template call, {{{ }}} is the variable call.   Roguebfl   talk    contribs    email   09:56, August 8, 2014 (UTC)

I would probably suggest starting by reading w:Help:Licensing, and having a look through the help pages it links to. Unfortunately, this is probably the best I can do to offer an introduction to copyright and licensing; the topic is just too broad and nuanced, and I don't know enough about it myself to be able to offer a more personalized introduction. However, if you have more specific questions, I'd be happy to try and answer them for you. =) ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 00:08, September 21, 2014 (UTC)

ok,i have a more specific question, how am i supposed to find out if an image is licenced? --  Rider ranger47   talk    contribs   14:59, September 21, 2014 (UTC)

The easiest way is just to see if a license has been listed alongside the image. Websites like Flikr and Wikimedia Commons explicitly list this information, and it may be listed in a description accompanying the image on other sites. If you've found an image you really want to use, but you can't find any license information on the site you found it on, you can try a reverse image search to see if you can find more information anywhere else: go to images.google.com and click the little camera icon in the search box, which will open up a new box where you can paste the URL for an image or upload an image from your computer, then continue the search as you normally would (this is how I found more information on the images you uploaded). If you still can't find any license information, and you can't find contact information for the image's creator or owner, you should assume the image is copyrighted and unlicensed, in which case any usage falls under fair use; depending on your planned usage, this may or may not be fine.
And lastly, keep in mind that any images from a published work (screenshots from TV shows, movies, or video games; book covers; character images; etc.) will always be under copyright, even if the image did not originate with the people or company that own the source material, and so cannot be released under a free license without their consent, which means you should always assume such images are copyrighted and unlicensed unless you can be shown otherwise.
I hope this helps some, and sorry about the length! ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 17:56, September 21, 2014 (UTC)

Templates added here should avoid requiring admins to add CSS or JS to a wiki's sitewide CSS/JS files if possible; templates added here should be as self-contained as possible to simplify copying them to other wikis. Because of this, we should be extremely hesitant to add new CSS or JS to the sitewide files here for new templates, and I can't support anyone who only wants to be an admin so they can add such things.
In the case of {{NavigationButton}}, it looks like the CSS it requires could be implemented entirely inline (though I didn't look very closely at what's going on there). ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 10:36, August 14, 2015 (UTC)

I've seen userboxes templates on the Discordian Wikia, and I was wondering how to make some.

I find the page on templates quite unclear and vague, but I've seen the sandbox where I could try to figure out the structure of the userboxes.

I've read that I needed to make a CSS sheet to change the font color for example, and I feel discoraged. Do you think you can explain me the basic functionnings of templates, please ? =)

I know how to call one, but not how to set the call name or what I should write to set a template, like limiters and things like that.

I would really appreciate if you could teach me how to edit Template:Ruby . Thanks, Plover-Y (talk) 2015-08-16 14:24 (UTC)

The problem with adding lang to the rb and rt tags is that you can't automatically determine what content will appear in those tags. For example, in the example you give, you show Yu-Gi-Oh appearing in the rt tag, but its content is going to be kana rather than Latin characters far more often than not, and there are no good ways to detect this automatically in wikitext (it's almost certainly possible in Lua, but even that would be a crapshoot, I think). The alternative is manual tagging via more parameters, which complicates the template's use and relies on editors knowing about and properly using them. Lastly, generally, the lang attribute on the outer ruby tag should be sufficient for anything you want to do on-wiki; it's certainly sufficient as far as the spec is concerned.
All that being said, {{Ruby/detect}} will work on any Ruby markup, no matter how it's coded, as long as it has a ruby tag. And I've updated Module:Ruby so it will work with rb and rt tags with attributes. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 18:55, August 16, 2015 (UTC)
Thank you very much for kindly teaching and editing module to me!! To be honest, I don't understand well yet because of deficiency of my templating and Lua skills (and my poor English ability), so I'll learn them to understand that correctly (>_<) Anyway, I deeply appreciate your support and kindness again! And I hope more wikis will use your awesome and useful templates. --Plover-Y (talk) 2015-08-17 02:24 (UTC)
No problem! And don't worry about not understanding stuff too well; I don't actually understand Lua very well myself, for example, and English is the only language I can speak with any amount of proficiency, so you're beating me there! =) Just take your time, and don't be afraid to ask people to explain themselves better. =) ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 02:29, August 17, 2015 (UTC)
I really appreciate your warm and encouraging words (*^o^*) Thans a lot! --Plover-Y (talk) 2015-08-17 07:33 (UTC)

Creating a template[]

I was wondering if you could help me create a template

I would like a picture on both ends and 1 in the middle and would like to be able to place text between the pictures

{{SUBST:User:Wildecoyote/sig|15:16,9/12/2015}} 15:16, September 12, 2015 (UTC)

Hi Wildecoyote, it sounds like a table would work for what you want. See w:Help:Tables for information on how to code a table, and feel free to ask if you need more help. =) ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 11:34, September 14, 2015 (UTC)
It's cool I made it myself
took a while but I adapted a similar one {{SUBST:User:Wildecoyote/sig|00:54,9/15/2015}} 00:54, September 15, 2015 (UTC)

Hi, I am struggling with coming up with a template I can use, that I am happy with.

This is the Link of what I have so info wise, but I want to change the colour, have the header, as well as the column, in a different colour. I have done some fiddling, but still no luck. HBG (talk) 06:56, September 21, 2015 (UTC)

adding image to infobox[]

I was wondering if you could tell me how to add a second image to a infobox please

{{SUBST:User:Wildecoyote/sig|11:02,1/5/2016}} 11:02, January 5, 2016 (UTC)

The easiest way would be to just copy the code for the first image, updating the parameter names as appropriate (for example, imageimage2, widthwidth2, and captioncaption2). Some work on presentation may be required (especially if you want the caption text to be displayed), but just that should get you pretty close to where you would want to be.
A method I've used myself on another wiki, and that I've seen used elsewhere, is Tabber, though this is quite a bit more involved to code up properly. If this is the direction you want to go, I can give a rundown of the basics, but if you don't have much experience working with wikicode yet it may be better to pass this one up for now. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 12:06, January 5, 2016 (UTC)
Thankyou for your reply. I would like to consider the tabber for something different how ever my infobox is http://castle-dangerous-game.wikia.com/wiki/Template:Item I would like the image pagename level 2-icon.png at line 62 and pagename level 3-icon at line 98. my test page is http://castle-dangerous-game.wikia.com/wiki/Stand_with_guns I made the changes but the images aren't appearing (the actual images for that page are located at the bottom of the page). Would you be able to have look for me please. {{SUBST:User:Wildecoyote/sig|14:14,1/5/2016}}
Okay, part of the problem is that you seem to be confusing a template call and a wikitable. You can't mix these as they're two different things and their syntax isn't compatible. The main reason you can't get it to work, though, is because Template:Item is using Template:Infobox, which itself only supports a single image. Looking at the edit history of Template:Item, there seem to be several other people who edit templates on your wiki; are any of them skilled at it? If so, you would be better off asking one of them for assistance, since they would be more familiar with the templates (to say nothing of the actual content of the wiki) than I am. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 18:29, January 5, 2016 (UTC)
the others are people from communityc ental who have tried to help but aren't actual members of the wiki. Can a wikitable use the page name links?

I am so new here at wikia, I'm sorry--[]

Hi there! I am honestly blindly fiddling with things over here so I am so super sorry if I was stealing code or something. I'm trying to put the sandbox on my wiki for character pages and I just have no idea how to do it! Do you think you could explain it to me before I screw up more? PapaGuru (talk) 03:26, May 3, 2016 (UTC)

Hi. Why did you delete the {{op}} template? It’s used in several template documentations and will be useful where it’s not used.
PapíDimmi (talk | contribs) 10:19, July 15, 2016 (UTC)

It was only used on the documentation for {{Wikipedia article}}, where you added it, and it's really not as useful as you think. Keep in mind, the purpose of this wiki is to provide templates for people to copy to their own wikis; this means templates here have to be kept reasonably simple, and part of this means avoiding dependencies unless they're necessary (and a template to add a small "(optional)" tag in template documentation is definitely not necessary). ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 10:26, July 15, 2016 (UTC)
It indicates that a parameter is not obligatory, which is necessary. It is also very simple.
PapíDimmi (talk | contribs) 10:28, July 15, 2016 (UTC)
Indicating that a parameter is optional is something that is generally better covered in the prose of the documentation, as I did with the documentation of {{Wikipedia article}} when I rewrote it a few minutes ago. The fact that {{op}} is a very simple template doesn't help its case for being necessary either, since it just means it can be easily hardcoded in place without requiring a template at all. In addition, the name is very generic and may refer to any number of things (especially in the context of various media franchises), which means that even if a wiki did bother to copy it (and, speaking from experience, wikis generally don't bother copying templates needed for correct display of template documentation), it's likely that the name would clash with something. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 10:36, July 15, 2016 (UTC)

Music notation[]

I am not that good with templates yet, I am still learning, and just when I thought I understand, I stumbled across music notation functions... Do you know any easy way of moving them to our Wiki? (w:c:number-1-miraculous-superfans) Bunnybug (talk) 00:08, February 22, 2020 (UTC)
