Forums: Index Help desk Template Trouble

I'm trying to create an InfoBox-esque character template for my Wikia. I've been at it for at least an hour and I'm getting nowhere. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong...I've been able to make templates before?

It just shows up as a broken link called "Template:CharaBox," and if I click the link, it takes me to a blank edit page. I've even tried using premade templates, but the best I've gotten from them, even after copy+pasting the information, is an uneditable box.

Please help? --Rainbowrosepetals 02:58, January 7, 2010 (UTC)

Where is this issue occurring? --Yoshord 02:55, January 8, 2010 (UTC)

He posted a similar request with more detail (but still no links) at User talk:Sannse. ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 03:32, January 8, 2010 (UTC)

That's the code you use when calling the template. You don't use that when creating the template. --Yoshord 23:20, January 8, 2010 (UTC)

What do I use when creating the template? Rainbowrosepetals 01:38, January 9, 2010 (UTC) I looked at your taxobox template code and it looks very similar to the style I used. Whenever I type the name of my template, which is CharaBox, it immediately turns into a link as if I'm calling the template and replaces the code I entered. What about the Taxobox and Charabox code looks remotely similar? --Yoshord 04:07, January 9, 2010 (UTC)

What is the code under "usage" at the following address: Rainbowrosepetals 17:48, January 9, 2010 (UTC)

That is the code you use to call the template... May I suggest you read Help:Templates, before you ask anything else? --Yoshord 19:52, January 9, 2010 (UTC)
